early challenges result in playoff run

Midlothian Heritage has presumed themselves as consistent playoff contender. Although they may be overshadowed by their older rival, Midlothian High School, Midlothian Heritage continues to make a name for themselves. Some may see non-district matchups as “pre-season” games or not having meaning until district play comes around but the Heritage Jaguars use their non-district games to sharpen their iron to prepare themselves for the longevity of postseason play. Many fans may have felt disgruntled for starting the season off 0-2 but Head Coach Eric Edwards always knew there was light at the end of the tunnel he chose. Although Week 1 & 2 were home games for the jags, they hosted some heavy hitters at

Midlothian ISD Stadium. Both Stephenville & Argyle made the trip down 287 to kickoff the year. With the result of both games being outscored by a combined total of 63-14, this only fueled the fire the jaguars needed. Both Stephenville & Argyle made deep playoff runs as well this year. Stephenville, who are still undefeated, are currently playing to punch their ticket to Jerry World in a 4A D1 State semifinal. Argyle’s run was cut short in the 5A D2 Regional Final. Facing these two state contenders built the grit needed for the jaguars to make their own playoff run 3 rounds deep in the 5A D2 Regional semifinals. What may have started as a doubtful outlook took the jags to a predominant season that shows they aren’t a team to forget about in the 5A Division.

is allen back !?

Third times the charm, and the Allen Eagles can attest to that. Since 2023 you would think that the new kryptonite for the Eagles would be the North Crowley Panthers. Whom have beaten the Eagles the previous 2 years in the 6A D1 State Playoffs, one of those resulting in a State Championship for the Panthers. These two teams would meet again for the 3rd year in a row in the 6A D1 Regional Final. Tensions were high leading into this one with both sides of the ball making their case for a victory. Some #TXHSFB analysts have mentioned that this Allen Defense look complete and fully together, making it the best defense they’ve had in a while. On the other side the North Crowley Panthers seemed to find their niche in the offense amid player eligibility obstacles they faced at the beginning of the year. They still managed to average nearly 50 points a game. In a heated matchup that started with some extra curricular activities before both teams ran out of their inflatables this game did not disappoint. The first half was pretty one sided as the Eagles seemed to be able to

do whatever they wanted as they lead at the half 21-7. With it not being that big a deficit to over come, a lot of work was needed to be done from the defending state champions. A late comeback was pushed by North Crowley, one instance was a scoring drive that took nearly 5 minutes as the Panthers simply ran it right down the field and scored to bring down the eagles lead to 10. The Panthers were able to force a punt and regain possession to continue their fight back into this game. On a must score drive the Allen Defense stepped in the biggest moment of the game by forcing a safety against the Panthers to add to their lead and regain possession to run out the clock. The eagles had finally did it and dethroned the State Champions in their third contest in 3 years. The Eagles look to continue their state quest as they have 6A D1 State semifinal against the Duncanville Panthers this Saturday.

making history & breaking records

The 6A D2 Region 2 Final was new for one school but the matchup was already familiar. DeSoto vs. Willis happens again in the 6A D2 race this time with more on the line! This was the First time in school history that the Willis Wildkats made it to the 4th round of playoffs. Lead by 5 Star Multi-Position athlete, Jermaine Bishop, the historic run continued with its next stop being at McLane Stadium in Waco, Tx. They meet common foe, the DeSoto Eagles for the third time in 3 years. The Wildkats season has continued with the superb performances from not only Jermaine Bishop, but from FRESHMAN QB Linc Frazier who broke the Freshman record for season passing yards with 4,232 yards being one of the youngest student athletes playing in the highest classification in the state of Texas. Jermaine’s historic played a big part in the Wildkats success, being one of, if not the best 2 way player we have season in #TXHSFB History. He finished his season being the Greater Houston areas all time leader in Receiving yards, Receptions & receiving touchdowns. Along with claiming the 6AD2 Region 2 Title once again, the DeSoto Eagles were breaking records themselves in their dominant 60-41 win. Sarod Baker continues to prove everyone that he is the #1 Running back in the state of Texas. As he already averages 4 TD’s a game he went beyond that with 7 Touchdowns in the Region 2 Final to claim

DeSoto’s Single Game Touchdown Record. The eagles dominance didn’t stop on the ground, as they had success in the air throwing the ball as well. This resulted in 5 Star, Ethan “Boobie” Feaster, to get loose for receiving gains as well. He walked out of McLane with an accolade himself as he became the new holder of DeSoto’s Single Season Receiving Yards record with 1,474 yards, which was previously owned by Johntay Cook. “Boobie” has at least one more game remaining (2 pending results of semifinal) to add on to his new record. The Eagles look to continue their dominance but a heavyweight matchup awaits this Saturday as they are scheduled to play Southlake Carroll in a 6AD2 semifinal.
